Take a rest and see the largest scale of over 40,000 petunia plants in Japan at Hirugano Picnic Garden.
After the opening in 1965, Hirugano Kogen Ski Resort is loved by the locals.
Actually, it is becoming more and more famous as Hirugano Picnic Garden with beautiful scenery from spring to autumn.
We are going to introduce Momoiro Terrace & Café located at an altitude of 1,000m where you need to ride a lift to reach. You can see everything in pink when you come.
Get a lift and head to the café on the mountaintop!
Hirugano Kogen Ski Resort is known as a ski resort that is family and beginner-friendly.
Take a ride on a 1,000m-long lift extending to the center of the slope and head to the mountaintop.
Pay the entry fee at the entrance and let’s go!
It takes about 8 minutes by the lift from the base to the top.
When you get off the lift, a bright pink petunia carpet spreads all over. It is one of the largest scales of over 40,000 petunia plants in Japan and is all pink as far as you can see.
Although it is in full bloom from July to August, even in mid-September when we visited, the scenery is still excellent.
From the summit of 1,000m above sea level, you can overlook Mt Dainichigatake, the Hakusan mountain range, and the whole townscape of Hirugano plateau area.
Having a relaxing cafe time while watching the pink view.
This is “Momoiro Cafe & Terrace” we are looking for.
It is located at a place where you can see all pink petunia.
The café looks like a camper car, you can find cute menus such as flower soda with flowers on top, jelly, and macaroons, which match the scenery. There are many sweets that you can only find here, like drinks, puddings, and panna cotta made from local specialty Hirugano milk.

The flower language of petunia is “I feel very comfortable with you.” Please come and make wonderful memories with your friends and partners.
You can find a café with a good view or with a nice interior design, but it is not easy to find a place with both of them! If you want to find a place like this, why not take a lift and go to “Momoiro Terrace & Cafe”?

After enjoying good food and a great view, other outdoor activities in Hirugano Picnic Garden are also recommended.
There is a “zipline” where you can slide down with a wire stretching in the forest with a pulley and try flying in the sky, and a “disc golf” where you can throw a disc aiming for a goal like a basket. Please come and try all of them!
